The Greater NY Dental Meeting, the largest dental congress and exposition in the United States, which is expected to attract more than 50,000 attendees, is set to sail into New York City Friday, Nov. 29 through Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013.
October 31-November 3, we will be heading to “The Big Easy” to attend the American Dental Association (ADA) Annual Session, one of the largest dental gatherings in the country.
The annual meeting, designed for the entire dental team, brings together some of the brightest minds in the dental industry to take advantage of continuing education programs, unique keynotes, networking and innovative products designed to enhance your practice and improve patient care.
As we enter the fall season, Oral Health America’s (OHA) fourth annual Fall for Smiles® campaign kicks off, running through the end of October. The program helps remind individuals of the importance of good oral health by educating communities about the importance of healthy food choices, regular dental visits, brushing and flossing and avoiding tobacco use. 3M ESPE is a proud sponsor of the program and eager advocate of OHA’s mission to highlight this important cause.
When the air turns crisp, the leaves change hues and the days get shorter, it means fall is here and that it is time to celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM). The annual month-long celebration is a friendly reminder to give back to our smiles and pay them the respect they deserve after a summer filled with sweet treats, sugary drinks, outdoor parties, long vacations and busy schedules.
I am fortunate enough to have spent 25 years with 3M Company – all of it within the dental division. It may sound a bit cliché, but the time really did fly. When I began my career with 3M in 1988, I started in sales in Calgary, Alberta Canada, followed by a transition into marketing in 1994 along with relocation to London, Ontario.
In 2012, 3M ESPE implemented a ratings and review feature similar to what is found on consumer sites such as Amazon, Zappos and Target. While many individuals associate ratings and reviews with buying a computer, finding a pair of shoes or selecting a shirt to fit, many in the health care field don’t associate that with finding the perfect dental products for their patients online. We wondered why.
The news cycle flows fast, stays steady and is often overwhelming for consumers of mainstream media, but readers of dental trades have taken notice of this trend affecting those covering the health care industry. From the introduction of new policies, new treatment options and products, and new dental studies that might make you second-guess the way you currently perform a certain procedure – it can all be very confounding.
I had the pleasure to interview Kathy Gaertner, 3M ESPE’s Global Business Team Leader on global differences in dentistry. Kathy shares how she works with a skilled team of researchers, scientists and marketers to develop solutions and products for clinicians around the world. She dives into how different regions around the globe prefer different techniques, certain products and how government regulations play a part in product development and availability. Kathy also provides a sneak peek at what solutions are coming down the pipeline. Watch below!
As I’ve discussed before, 3M corporate culture is built on sharing technology and cross-pollinating ideas amongst different business units to deliver innovative solutions for our customers. Watch as I interview Stuart Bigham, 3M ESPE’s lab manager, on how 3M leverages technology to create new products, including how 3M Automotive borrowed 3M ESPE dental technology such as the Pentamix™ 3 Automatic Mixing Unit to develop a mixing system used for auto repair.
We are headed to CDA Presents, August 13-17 in the vibrant city of San Francisco. Thousands of dental professionals will descend on The City by the Bay for a remarkable lineup of continuing education (C.E.) opportunities, professional networking, notable thought leaders and lots of fun.
